About this event
A free Saturday morning Suzuki Group Class at the historic McIntosh Goodrich Mansion, offering violin, viola, and cello students an opportunity to learn, play, and grow together. Recommended for students in private lessons who have learned Twinkle Variation A and beyond. New to strings? Check out our Violin and Cello Discoveries classes and/or private lessons with our outstanding faculty.
The Suzuki Method, developed by Japanese violinist Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, is based on the belief that all children can learn an instrument, similar to how children learn and master their own language at a young age by listening to others speak. Students learning in a Suzuki-style:
• Learn the mechanics of the instrument first, focusing on beautiful tone and sound production. The first focus is on learning by listening to quality recordings of the repertoire, and note-reading skills are developed later.
• Work in a team with parent and private teacher for individualized instruction in private lessons and at-home practice.
• Learn from other children in group lessons, developing ensemble skills by playing a common repertoire learned by students around the world.
